Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to propose the use of critical design as an approach for considering the future of libraries. Design/methodology/approach: This paper describes a specific instance of critical design: timeline of the far future of libraries. Findings: Reflections on the critical design are presented. Originality/value: This paper offers the first application of critical design in the context of librarianship.
