Abstract

At the heart of a user‐centered system for studying, practicing, creating, and teaching engineering design; in collaboration with instructors and other students and across a fiber‐optic network; and with access to extensive and ever‐expanding sets of digitally stored databases is a user notebook. This article describes the notebook under development, argues the specific attributes of its various tools for the single user to command, and illustrates the anticipated use of the notebook as the center of a computer “creation‐station.”
