Abstract
Establishing an “intelligent link” between conventional CAD systems and different analytical tools like finite element analysis packages is a significant concern in design automation. This paper proposes the use of knowledge engineering for the unification process and outlines the dimensions of an overall framework for an integrated CAD/FEM system A prototype system for structural design of aircraft wings has been implemented in this integrated environment.
