Abstract
Interpretation of the colonial city is furthered by examination of Cape Town and Tianjin. Contrasts and similarities of the colonial impress in each city are explained in historical and societal contexts. Future change in Tianjin will probably be evolutionary, while that in Cape Town may be revolutionary. -Author
