Abstract

The reaction of copper with 1,2-ethylene diphosphonic acid and 2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine and o-phenanthroline under hydrothermal conditions resulted in the one-dimensional [Cu(terpy)(HO3PCH2CH2PO3H)] ·4H2O (1·4H2O) and the molecular species [{Cu(phen)(H2O)}2(O3PCH2CH 2PO3)]·9H2O (2·9H2O), which were isolated by slow evaporation.
