Abstract

We study the problem of deriving high energy bounds on total cross sections for processes in which massless particles can participate. We are able to prove such bounds given the following assumptions 1) Mandelstam analyticity 2) polynomial boundedness 3) smoothness 4) Adler's condition for massless pions or analogous conditions for other massless particles such as neutrinos. The resulting bound is that total cross sections are constant up to powers of logarithims of the energy.
