title = "The Adler condition and high energy bounds on massless particle total cross sections",
abstract = "We study the problem of deriving high energy bounds on total cross sections for processes in which massless particles can participate. We are able to prove such bounds given the following assumptions 1) Mandelstam analyticity 2) polynomial boundedness 3) smoothness 4) Adler's condition for massless pions or analogous conditions for other massless particles such as neutrinos. The resulting bound is that total cross sections are constant up to powers of logarithims of the energy.",

note = "Funding Information: The question of bounds which are valid even when massless particles are present has taken on renewed relevance recently for two reason. Recent experiments probing weak interactions, for which neutrinos are the relevant massless particles, indicate that total cross sections increase linearly with energy. The other reason for asking this question is the attention that has recently been focused on the problem of calculating * Research supported in part by the Air Force Office of Scien-title Research, Office of Aerospace Research, United States Air Force, under Contract number F44620-70-C-0028.
