Abstract
The facile synthesis of cyclic oxonium derivatives of the manganadecaborane 1 is reported. A reported THF substituted compound 2 was prepared by using this method. The yield was improved to 90% from previously reported 26%. A similar 1,4-dioxane substituted compound was also prepared and its structure was confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. This demonstrates the success of the approach and extends the cyclic oxonium methods to metallaboranes.
