Abstract

Two new organic-inorganic hybrid manganese vanadates, [Mn(2,2′-bipyridine)2V2O6] (1) and [Mn(1,10-phenanthroline)(H2O)V2O6] (2) were synthesized hydrothermally from mixtures of manganese acetate, V2O5 and the corresponding ligand and acidified with acetic acid. Compound 1 is a molecular cluster consisting of [V4O12]4- rings decorated with [Mn(2,2′-bpy)2]2+ subunits. The structure of 2 is two dimensional, with a network constructed from one-dimensional chains of corner-sharing [VO4]3- tetrahedra, which are linked through [Mn(phen)(H2O)]2+ groups.
