Abstract

This essay is written in the form of a letter to The HopKins Black Box Theatre at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Through personal narrative, performative writing, and metaphor, it argues for the importance of dedicated spaces for performance studies practice and performance praxis in academic settings. Additionally, it recognizes the work of those who have created are attempting to create and/or continue to maintain such spaces, despite trends and value systems in academia that ignore or impede their efforts.
