Abstract

The hydrothermal reaction of CuCN, KCN, 2,2′-bipyridyl (bpy) and water yields [{Cu2(bpy)2(CN)}2Cu5(CN) 7]· 0.17H2O 1, a two-dimensional copper-cyano network intercalated by [(bpy)2(Cu)2(CN)]+ cations and water of crystallization.
