Abstract

A stochastic simulation is developed for predicting dispersed phase holdup and drop size distribution profiles in column contactors. The framework required to incorporate mass transfer processes is also presented. A stagewise flow model for the continuous phase and the interphase mass transport balances is included. Simulated results are compared to experimental measurements for toluene/water, with good agreement. (P.M.T.)
