Abstract

The complex [Rh(2-SC5H3N-3-SiMe3)3] (1) may be prepared by the reaction of Rh(NO3)3 with 2-HSC5H3N-3-SiMe3 in ethanol. The structure of 1 is similar to that of [Rh(2-SC5H4N)3]. The reaction of [Rh(C5Me5)Cl2]2 with 2-HSC5H3N-3-SiMe3 in acetonitrile yields [Rh(2-SC5H3N-3- SiMe3)2(C5Me5)]·CH3CN (2), whose structure exhibits two distinct types of pyridinethiolato ligation: monodentate through the S donor and bidentate through S and N donors. Crystal data: 1, orthorhombic, Pbca, a=23.444(4), b=21.138(4), c=13.348(2) Å, V=6615.1(12) Å3, Z=8; 2, monoclinic, C2/c, a=18.978(3), b=14.437(2), c=24.309(5) Å, β=100.09(1)°, V=6557.4(11) Å3, Z=8.
