N2 - The understanding of the behavior of connection as a structural element or as an integral part of a structural system is imperative for the following reasons. First, from the viewpoint analysis and design, there is a trend towards a new design philosophy. Secondly, from the viewpoint of economics, the cost of the construction can be reduced if more understanding of the behavior of various types of connections is available. Since structural connections are basic elements in a structural steel frame, the behavior of these connections will affect the behavior of the frame.
