Abstract

Professional advocacy is foundational for the development of a counselor’s professional identity. It was also one of the main foci of Dr. Jane E. Myers’s lifetime of leadership and scholarship. Despite its importance, efforts fall behind where they should be, given the evolution of the counseling profession. The authors propose an integration of a Professional Identity Expression model and CSI Advocacy Themes to promote professional advocacy.
