Abstract

The characterization and preparation of gold nanoparticles dispersed in poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) was discussed. The dispersion of the functionalized nanoparticles into the hydrophilic poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) thin film was achieved using solution mixing and casting. It was shown that the decanethiolate-capped gold nanoparticles of two different core sizes could be derivatized via an exchange-precipitation method using alkanethiols functionalized with carboxylic acid groups.
