Abstract

The ring opening polymerization of polyacetylene (PA) along with ruthenium olefin metathesis catalyst, was analyzed. The coatings of PA on glass plates were obtained by inserting the substrate in a solution of catalyst under acetylene, by varying exposure times, loose and porous films of various thicknesses were deposited. Shiny, silver-coated films were also obtained by using high pressure, moderate pressure, or low pressure. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) images of PA revealed that morphology is network of spherical particles near 0.5 μm in diameter.
