Abstract
Award winning pianist and composer James Gordon Williams will be performing Williams’s original music at the Community Folk Art Center. The concert will feature the guitar artistry of Marvin J. Sewell most notably connected to Grammy winning musician Cassandra Wilson. Rounding out the rhythm section is drummer Joshua Dekaney and Syracuse native bassist Ian Stewart. This quartet will work to musically explore the meaning of the phrase outlaw culture in relation to unconventional musical practices and how these practices connect to broader, critical questions about the modern nature of black subjectivities.
