Abstract

Very efficient modeling is achieved using quadrilateral patches and higher order basis functions. However, such modeling can show poor accuracy if proximity effect is pronounced. In such cases the results cannot be improved much by increasing the order of higher order basis functions, but by proper meshing of plates. This paper aims to present algorithm for optimal meshing of quadrilaterals and, more generally, polygonal surfaces in the case of pronounced proximity effect.
