Abstract

A variety of hybrid polymers containing nanoscale inorganic polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) macromers were synthesized. Each macromer was designed to produce linear polymers without crosslinking. The polymerization of POSS macromers resulted in linear polymers containing monodispersed, nanosize inorganic clusters either dependent on an organic polymer backbone or directly bound into the polymer chain. Some of the polymers which can be obtained using the two types of POSS macromers are presented.
