Abstract

The memory function for the velocity autocorrelation function is evaluated at low and moderate densities for the square well potential. Short time deviations from the Boltzmann-Lorentz result are calculated for both incomplete scattering events and bound pairs. It is shown that the bound states are responsible for certain structural anomalies found in recent molecular dynamics simulation at low temperature.
