title = "Measurements of polarization in K-p elastic scattering at low energies",
abstract = "The polarization parameter has been measured in K-p elastic scattering at eight incident beam momenta between 650 MeV/c and 1071 MeV/c throughout a center of mass angular range of -0.75 < cos θ* < 0.85. Experimental results and coefficients of Legendre polynomial fits to the data are presented and compared with other measurements and partial wave analysis.",

note = "Funding Information: The KN system has been studied for many years to gain understanding of the complex resonance structure in the center of mass energy range from threshold to 2700 MeV. Polarization measurements in elastic scattering have helped to evaluate the amplitudes in the system at center of mass energies above 1730 MeV \[1, 2\], but insufficient fluxes of K-mesons and signal to noise restrictions in detecting low energy final state particles have made measurements at lower energies prohibitively difficult. With the high flux, low energy separated beam, LESB, at the AGS and a proportional wire chamber detection system, we have been able to extend polarization measurements down to 1630 MeV. We are reporting the results of those measurements taken at laboratory beam momenta from 650 to 1071 MeV/c and over an angular range in the center of mass of -0.75 < cos 0* < 0.85.
