Abstract

Calculations are presented of the coefficients C2, C5 and Cs1, Cs2, which describe the asymptotic potential between an atom and a surface and the substrate mediated adatom-adatom long range interaction, respectively. We have considered the interaction of hydrogen and rare gases with surfaces of GaP, GaAs, GaSb, InP, InAs, and InSb for which recent dielectric function data and theoretical calculations have become available. We have compared our full calculations with a simple formula introduced by Vidali and Cole.
