Abstract

This chapter discusses the origin of this book, which emerged from a working conference, funded by the National Science Foundation. It provides a brief overview of lesson study. We then explain the structure of the working conference, which generated artifacts that informed chapter authors as they crafted their contributions. We provide an overview of the book’s flow and descriptions of how its contents will be relevant to myriad stakeholders in teacher education, both within the United States and internationally.
