Abstract

With a focus on the importance of mental health, wellbeing, self-awareness and skill development, practitioners of mental health sessions for Therapies Incorporating Horses (TIH) are challenged to assess their practice from Biopsychosocial, Empowerment Theory, and Social Capital frameworks. Practitioners often come into TIH from a place of wanting to help others and with a love of horses. Later in the chapter, we will focus on reframing compassion fatigue by supporting skills in emotional resilience through emotional CPR. Resources include: guides/apps, continuing education opportunities, and “in the moment” grounding activities are provided for consideration and practice.
