Imperial consent and post-fordist militarism in the USA

Abstract

Without denying the culpability of officials who formulated and executed duplicitous policies of aggressive war, I suggest that imperial tendencies are deeply embedded in historical structures linking the US into the prevailing world order, and that in addition to political economy these historical structures encompass important areas of American popular culture and gender relations.
