Abstract

Hydrothermal reactions of sodium orthovanadate, copper(II) sulfate pentahydrate, phenylarsonic acid and an imine ligand yielded two compounds of the Cu(II)-imine/VxOy/RAsO3n - family. Under the conditions of this study the one-dimensional [Cu(phen)VO2(O3AsC6H5)(HO 3AsC6H5)] (1) and the unique mixed-dimensionality structure of [Cu(bpy)VO2(O3AsC 6H5)(HO3AsC6H5)][Cu(bpy) V2O4(O3AsC6H5) 2] (2), which consists of a cluster and a one-dimensional chain, were produced. (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine).
