Abstract

Ebey, Liu and Vilches (J.Low Temperature Physics, in press) have recently analyzed desorption heat capacity data to determine the binding energy of He atoms on a "compound" substrate consisting of one, two or three layers of H2 adsorbed on a graphite surface. Using a Hartree model to derive an effective potential, we calculate theoretical binding energies in these cases and find them in good agreement with experimental data.
