Abstract

The first and second moments of the hadronic mass-squared distribution in the B meson semileptonic decay to charm, B → X _c ℓ ν, were measured. The measurement of <M _X ² - M̄ _D ²> and the heavy quark effective theory expression for this moment were used, in conjunction with similar information on the first moment of the photon energy spectrum in B → s _λ. As a result, λ and ∧̄ were determined.
