Abstract

Fuzzy logic offers solutions to problems where concepts are subjective, quantities are known only imprecisely and system models are descriptive rather than analytic. In this paper basic principles of fuzzy logic are summarized from a pragmatic point of view. Examples of industrial applications are given with an automotive emphasis. Finally, a fuzzy logic system that adapts to environmental variations is introduced.
