Driven Depinning of Strongly Disordered Media and Anisotropic Mean-Field Limits

Abstract

A study was performed on driven depinning of strongly disordered media and anisotropic mean-field limits. Using coarse-grained degrees of freedom, extended systems driven through strong disorder were modeled. It was found that the model had a tricritical point separating a region where the depinning was continuous in the limit of infinite-range elastic and viscous coupling.
