Abstract

This paper presents a novel application of the phenomenon of noise enhanced systems (PHONES) in image processing. Potential enhancement of image denoising systems via the addition of noise is investigated. Two systems are considered, one where a single noise realization is used and the other where multiple noise realizations are employed to enhance image denoising performance. Image denoising performance is shown to improve when suitable noise is added.
