Abstract

This article describes cultural anthropological approaches to conflict. It considers conflict in historical and contemporary perspective. Special attention is paid to the roles played by systems of meaning, expressed through language, symbolism, social organization, and culture, and contribute to the development and amelioration of conflicts.
