Abstract
Two thermal loops are thermally coupled. Using one-dimensional dynamics, a model is derived to describe the convective flows; it consists of a coupled set of Lorenz oscillators. A stability analysis shows that both co-current and counter-current steady convective flows can be simultaneously stable yet differ significantly in Nusselt numbers.
