Abstract

Two compact substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) based circularly polarized (CP) composite right/left handed (CRLH) leaky wave antennas (LWAs) are designed and presented. Besides wide-band matching enhancement, the proposed antennas are shortened by 39.8 % along the scanning plane compared to the previous work [1]. Additionally, the current amplitude distribution of the proposed antenna can be controlled by using negative resistance based reflection type amplifiers (RTAs). The compensated uniform distribution yields an enhanced directivity without compromising full space frequency scanning capability.
