Abstract
The major upgrades of the CESR e+ e-storage ring and of the CLEO detector are under way. The upgraded CESR is designed to provide 2· 1033 cm-2s-1 luminosity in the symmetric collision mode. The upgraded CLEO-III experiment will be complementary to the B-factory experiments under construction on a similar time scale. We discuss these future prospects starting with a brief description of the present and past activities at CESR.
