Abstract

Squeezing flow viscometry was used to determine the shear viscosity of a resin positioned between parallel plates under an applied compressive force. The viscosity profiles of several high performance epoxy based resins were investigated. The viscosities were measured in squeezing flow during isothermal and increasing temperature conditions. Gelation or vitrification times were determined. These results were compared with complex viscosities obtained using the oscillatory parallel plate geometry. Viscosity profiles were analyzed with a dual Arrhenius model using a four parameter search optimization procedure.
