Abstract

Reaction of MoCl5 with 2-mercaptoethyl sulphide, (HSCH 2CH2)2S, (mes), yields a MoIV complex [Mo(mes)2], which possesses trigonal prismatic geometry through co-ordination to both mercapto- and sulphide-sulphur donors, the complex displays well behaved redox processes, which may be characteristic of certain Mothiolate systems.
