Abstract

In this chapter stochastic models for high-speed networks viz. traffic models, buffer content process models, LAN models, etc. are considered. The stochastic models are used to obtain end-to-end Quality-of-Service (QoS) measures that the network must guarantee users in the future. The QoS measures or performance measures can be used in optimal design problems and admission control problems. Other aspects such as TCP, routing, leaky buckets, wireless networks, etc. are also considered.
