Abstract
Faster numerical algorithms are required to be developed for cost-effective inspection procedures. In this paper, we discuss the coaxiality requirements, and several computational methodologies for verifying coaxiality tolerances in a coordinate measuring machine. Since the measuring system and the data sampling algorithms have direct influence on the inspection results (i.e. on the correctness and robustness of the computational algorithms), issues related to data acquisition and sampling technique have also been outlined in the paper.
