Abstract

The problem of reduction of jet noise has stimulated interest in the study of free jets. In this work, experiments were carried out in the mixing region of an axisymmetric turbulent jet to acquire the necessary data to perform a one dimensional shot noise decomposition and a scalar two dimensional version of the full orthogonal decomposition. Numerical computations were carried out and the characteristic eddies were extracted from these measurements.
