Abstract

Image registration is the process of estimating the misalignment between two images and then aligning the image pair. A popular approach for coarse registration is Fourier based. This paper enhances the current Fourier based registration approach by employing the MUSIC algorithm for frequency estimation. A more accurate registration result is achieved at the expense of additional computational complexity. Performance is comparable to a mutual information based registration algorithm but requires less computation.
