Abstract
The various aspects of an interdisciplinary curriculum for embedded systems education are discussed. The new curriculum incorporates a methodology for developing synchronization code and uses controller area networks to explore real-time communication issues. The curriculum integrates research results and technology, and incorporates implementation projects. The new curriculum consists of four upper undergraduate level or beginning level courses, and includes elements of both software and design.
