Research interests

Scott Warren is the Senior Associate Dean for Research Excellence at the Syracuse University Libraries. His portfolio includes general collections, cataloging and acquisitions/licensing, digital stewardship, open scholarship and copyright, a variety of research-centric services provided by school/college liaison librarians and other specialists, plus the University Press (where he was interim director 2022-23).

Scott is President of EAST (a shared print consortium of over 100 academic libraries in the eastern United States) and on the Rosemont Shared Print Alliance’s Executive Committee. He has published and spoken widely, served on a variety of task forces, publisher advisory boards, governing boards of library organizations (including a three-year stint as Treasurer of the Library Publishing Coalition), and represents Syracuse in the NorthEast Research Libraries consortium, among other settings.

He was a 2016-2017 Association of Research Libraries Leadership Fellow. He holds an MA in Library and Information Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, undergraduate degrees in physics and history from the Pennsylvania State University, and began his career as a Library Fellow at the North Carolina State University Libraries.
