Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR, Nicolet IS5, ThermoFisher) is used to analyze progress of chemical reactions as well as surface chemistry using KBr pellets in transmission mode or in reflectance mode using a diamond crystal ATR (attenuated total reflectance) attachment.
